Spring is here!  A time of warm days and cool evenings. Flowers are beginning to bloom. There’s excitement in the air, thinking about how to spend our time enjoying longer days.  

We’re just as excited to share our latest devotional series with you!  We’ll examine what it means to walk in the freedom of knowing that we are fully loved by our Heavenly Father and how that helps us love Him and others.

The Freedom to Be Enough

When I was young, I lived in a very chaotic environment. I became very sensitive to the moods of those around me.  My desire to be loved was strong, so I adjusted my behavior depending on those moods.  I became a people pleaser who felt that I needed to justify my value to be accepted.

Watch a child run into the arms of someone they trust. They don’t hesitate. They don’t wonder if they belong. They know they are loved. That kind of fearless belonging is what John wants us to understand about God. In 1 John 3:1, he writes, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.”

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."  Matthew 11:28 (ESV)
There is a kind of freedom that does not come from doing more but from finally resting.

 

Years ago, a friend of mine repented and prayed against the spirit of self-sufficiency.
Just hearing this made my ears more attentive, and I began reflecting on the times I took control of situations I had prayed about or should have released to the Lord. Since
then, I have continually prayed for the Lord to remove the innate reaction to be
self-sufficient and instead help me become fully reliant on Him.
