Not only do we use a lot of words, but they are very powerful. That is why we are told to think before we speak. We really need God’s wisdom in our words. I know I do.

When I first came to Christ, I would have considered myself a smart person, but I would not describe myself as a wise person. To be honest, I am not sure I really understood the difference. In my mind, wisdom was for older people, people who have lived life and had been through some things.

Wisdom isn’t just knowing the right answers; it’s aligning our lives with God’s ways. It’s the quiet, steady confidence that helps us care for our families, nurture our relationships, serve with grace, and make decisions with peace. It shows up not just in big moments, but in the daily rhythms of life—how we respond, how we lead, how we love.

This is where we see Samuel walking in wisdom, even at a young age, and before he fully understood what was happening. He didn’t yet recognize the Lord’s voice, but he still responded with humility, trust, and obedience.

Biblically, wisdom isn’t just knowledge or being smart. Wisdom is seeing life from God’s perspective and choosing to act accordingly. Proverbs tells us that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). This means acknowledging God’s authority in every area of life and humbling ourselves before Him.
